General admission runs $15 at the gate, or $12 if you bought ahead of August 20, with kids six and under always free. That's the baseline. The character of any given day depends entirely on which ten-day window you catch.
The opening weekend, August 22 and 23, belongs to the North River Blues Festival, with music running noon to 8 p.m. both days. Rick Estrin & the Nightcats headline Saturday, the Chris Cain Band closes out Sunday, and the music tent draws a crowd well beyond the usual fairgoer. The closing weekend, August 29 and 30, flips to Country Music Weekend, running noon to 9 p.m., with a Whiskey Glasses set (a Morgan Wallen tribute act) Saturday night and Alec MacGillivray on Sunday. Salty Days Plans a Marshfield Opening
A few miles from the fairgrounds, Salty Days Fish Co. is preparing to open a Marshfield location at The Shops at Oceans Gate.
WhatNow reports that Salty Days Fish Co. opened its first location in Hingham in October 2020 and added a Cohasset location two years later. The original Hingham spot closed in September 2023, and a new Hingham Shipyard location is slated to open later this year. The company's Marshfield location at The Shops at Oceans Gate is set to open this summer; the Marshfield select board approved licenses for it in January. Co-owners Sean and Joanne McDaniel are Marshfield natives and have described the new spot as a homecoming. The Marshfield menu will carry the same sushi and seafood lineup as the Cohasset location, including poke bowls and creative rolls, plus a full bar the earlier locations didn't have.

Where the Fair Crowd Ends Up After the Gates Close
For anyone stringing together a full evening around fair week, the town's own restaurant scene fills in nicely once the fairgrounds close at 10:

- Cask 'n Flagon, the sports-bar outpost with 135 screens if the fair's entertainment tent wasn't enough action for one night
- Osteria Vivo, for a slower sit-down meal away from the midway
- Bluefish River Tavern, another local standby for a low-key dinner
If you'd rather walk it off than sit down, Brant Rock's Harbor Walk connects the Esplanade to Harbor Park and the Marshfield Town Pier in one direction, and to the Brant Rock Beach parking area, Peter Igo Park, and the Wharf Creek Conservation Area in the other.
