The Webster Show House Now Runs Past Dark, on Light-Show Nights

November 5, 2026

For its 21st year, the Christmas Designer Show House at the Daniel Webster Estate runs a longer schedule. On four December evenings it stays open until 9 p.m. Those four evenings are Thursdays and Fridays. The South Shore Celebration of Lights runs at the Marshfield Fairgrounds on those same nights, with its last cars admitted at 8:15. The estate calls the extended schedule new, and in 2026 its hours overlap with the town's biggest after-dark event, which moves much of Marshfield's December into weeknight evenings.

The rest of the season fits around those nights. The Fairgrounds holds its indoor market on a Saturday morning, Friendship Hall in Marshfield Hills covers two December Saturdays, and the Webster Estate closes out a Sunday with a children's party.

Four evenings that changed the Show House

The estate's own page labels the schedule "NEW!!" The Show House opens Thursday, December 10, and closes Sunday, December 20, an 11-day run. The hours change by day of the week:

  • Thursdays and Fridays, December 10, 11, 17 and 18: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturdays and Sundays, December 12, 13, 19 and 20: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Monday through Wednesday, December 14, 15 and 16: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tickets are sold at the door. General admission is $15, seniors 62 and older and Daniel Webster Preservation Trust members pay $10, and children under 12 get in free. The proceeds have a specific purpose. The events are run by 238 Webster Gatherings, a committee inside the Daniel Webster Preservation Trust that raises money for the upkeep of the Daniel Webster Estate & Heritage Center. So the extra evening hours also give the estate more hours to raise money.

The Show House is the middle of three December events at the estate. The 2026 Show House Gala comes first, on Friday, December 4, from 7 to 10 p.m. by reservation. Santa's Annual PJ Party and Kids' Favorite Food Drive follows on Sunday, December 13, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Donations go to local families through the Marshfield Food Pantry. The Show House closes at 5 p.m. that Sunday and the party starts half an hour later at the same address, so one family can do both in a single afternoon and evening.

The light show's calendar is uneven, and the gaps matter

Fiesta Shows runs the South Shore Celebration of Lights from November 27 through December 30 at the Marshfield Fairgrounds. The address is 140 Main Street, but cars enter at Gate E, 62 S. River St. Every operating night has four hourly entry windows starting at 5, 6, 7 and 8 p.m.

The show does not run every night. Thanksgiving weekend is weekends only. Weeknights start with Wednesday, December 2, and Thursday, December 3. The show skips Mondays and Tuesdays until December 14 and 15. Before mid-December, the weeknight options are Wednesdays and Thursdays, plus Fridays, which are priced as weekend nights.

Prices are per car and depend on the night and how you buy:

Ticket type Online At the gate
Weeknight car, Mon–Thu $22.99 $30
Weekend or holiday car, Fri–Sun, Dec 24 & 25 $26.99 $35
Flex pass, any available date and time $30 Not listed
Weeknight limo, van or small bus $40 $50
Weekend or holiday limo, van or small bus $50 $60

Buying at the gate costs $7 to $8 more per car, and you might not get in at all. Fiesta Shows says that if a night sells out online, the gate sells no tickets. The flex pass costs a few dollars more than either dated online ticket. In exchange, you can pick the night when the forecast looks good. The show is open on December 24 and 25 at holiday pricing, and the displays may include flashing lights.

Where the two calendars meet

Every 9 p.m. Show House evening falls on a light-show night.

On Thursday, December 10, and Thursday, December 17, you can tour the Show House after work and still reach the 7 or 8 p.m. light-show window, all at the lower weeknight price. Saturday, December 19, is the busiest day of the stretch. The Fairgrounds holds its indoor market in the morning and the drive-through after dark, and the Show House is open from 11 to 5 in between.

The Saturdays belong to Marshfield Hills and the grandstand

The weeknight hours are new this year. The Saturdays rest on two long-running fixtures, an annual children's celebration in Marshfield Hills and a grandstand market that has run winter dates for years.

Friendship Hall, at 83 Old Main Street in Marshfield Hills, hosts North Community Church's Holiday Fair on Saturday, December 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is free and open to the public, with local crafts, baked goods, prepared food and raffles. The next Saturday, December 12, the hall holds Holiday in the Hills, its annual Christmas celebration for children, from 3 to 5 p.m. It ends in time for the 5 p.m. light-show entry window.

At the Fairgrounds, the Marshfield Farmers' Market holds its cold-weather season under the lightly heated grandstand. It runs on the third Saturday of each month from October through May, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The remaining dates this season start with November 21 and December 19, followed by January 16, 2027. About 20 farmers, chefs and artisans sell produce, meats, dairy, seafood, honey, wool and eggs, along with prepared food and goods from three bakeries. The talks, live music and children's activities are free, and SNAP and HIP are accepted. The market started in 2006 as a summer-only market. Customers asked for winter dates, and the market added them within a few years and has run them ever since.

Because the market runs in the morning and the drive-through runs after dark, the Fairgrounds is in use for most of Saturday, December 19. Light-show cars enter at Gate E on S. River St.

Before the lights come on

Thanksgiving week is quiet at the Fairgrounds, but a few events fill the weeks before it. Mass Audubon's North River Wildlife Sanctuary has three programs:

  1. Birding by Van, Wednesday, November 18, 8:30 to 11 a.m.
  2. Wild Turkey Walk, Friday, November 20, 4 to 5:30 p.m.
  3. Search for Winter Flocks, Saturday, November 21, 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

The Winter Flocks walk ends at 10:30 a.m. on November 21, half an hour after the grandstand market opens at 10. You can do the walk and still reach the market well before it closes at 1 p.m.

The next day, Sunday, November 22, the South Shore Hot Sauce Expo – Fall 2026 runs from noon to 5 p.m. at Stellwagen Beer Company, 100 Enterprise Drive. Five days later, on November 27, the first cars drive through Gate E.
